Some things surprised me when I got my box...

IMPORTANT! Unit does not contain RF modulated output (75 ohm coax), only RCA line output and S-Video output. If you do not have RCA or S-Video line in on your TV, or can't use your VCR's line in to convert, you will have to buy an RF modulator ($30 from Radio Shack for a cheap one, $100+ for a digital one online everywhere I could find one searching online). Also, has no "line in", so it must be the last item in your chain if connecting numerous video items in sequence.
Browser does not handle "*.avi", or "real audio", though it does handle "*.wav".
Does not ship with "remote control", only keyboard remote control. However, the keyboard, despite being "full size in the typing area", is very light and almost like a huge remote control. Very comfortable in the hands. Also, it worked with my "leapfrog" infrared extender.
Only one RAM slot, you will have to pitch the shipping 8 megs if you want to upgrade. The numbers on the first chip on RAM module are "KMM5322204BW-6", and each individual chip is labeled "KM416C1204BJ-6". This would appear to be a SAMSUNG Part number; visiting SAMSUNG's site, I found the module "KMM5322204C" at "http://www.usa.samsungsemi.com/products/browse/dramsimm.htm#8MB". So, the old "revision" "BJ-6" is no longer shipping (it is a discontinued part). No matter, verification via the page "http://www.usa.samsungsemi.com/buy/decoder/dramsimm.htm" shows it is a common 2Mx32 DRAM SIMM, 72 Pin, EDO, 60NS, 4K refresh. Any 72 Pin EDO SIMM, 60NS or faster should work, with a max size of 64MB according to the specifications on the original Daewoo box. For example, you might try part 10387 or 10395, at "http://www.thechipmerchant.com/complete.htm#SIMMs".
The 33 Kbps modem is the only built in "Internet" connection. To use ethernet, or ISDN, you would have to remove it and put in another card (I don't know where you would buy one supported by the OS, let me know if you have details). Based on other discoveries, I highly doubt the Operating System supports an ISDN modem and/or a ethernet card. There is only one slot, so only one connection card could be in at one time. Opening the top of the box, the 33 Kbps modem (and its slot) was under the mother board. To get to it, I had to remove one screw on the back plate (above DC connector), and the six connectors for the three ports (print & VGA ports) also on the back plate, and then remove the back plate. Next remove all 5 screws on the mother board, and the mother board lifts up and out. The modem on the bottom of the motherboard has "YES-561CLX" with a subscript 2 following, on the board. The largest chip says "YES-336CL" "v1.0", and below that "C9717" and "643600". Don't know what all this means. However, the board is plugged into what appears to be a simple slot on the mother board, which may be ISA, and maybe it is easy to replace...if I could find out what company makes a "YES" modem (perhaps any hays compatible modem will work). I am not an expert on slots, but the slot is dual purpose, having an extension portion that is empty. I think this may be a PCI/ISA dual purpose slot, the current modem using only the ISA portion of the slot, but I am not sure.
Java Script is not Java. Some "Java" pages will not work (you would see "starting Java" in a regular browser on such pages.)
HTML 3.2 compliant may be misleading. It appears that it does not support "Host Headers", which is an HTML 1.1 specification, and thus I am not sure exactly how "compliant" it is. (I am a computer geek, and serve a Microsoft Internet Information Server, on which I host multiple sites on the same IP; when I visit the site, it was apparent host headers did not work. Then, I locked up fairly quickly, so I don't know what is up yet). Also, when you go to a site that users frames, it lists the frames each as its own link in a blank window titled "this site uses frames", and you have to pick one frame at a time.
The unit does not have a smart card reader, nor a PC card slot as claimed by OnSale.COM.
